Choosing A Wedding Venue

Choosing a wedding venue is one of the hardest decisions we have to make getting married (other than choosing your partner!). Capacity, style, location and sentimental value all come into play when viewing potential venues. There are plenty of different types and sizes of wedding venue available in The Cotswolds. Some of my personal favourites are:

Cripps Barn (Bibury):

This stunning 18th century barn is set in Bibury. I've seen some beautiful floristry in this barn and it's played host to some amazing weddings. It's a small enough venue that it will feel close and cosy, but big enough that no one will have to be left off the guest list!

Upcote Barn (Withington, Cheltenham):

This barn set on a lovely farm has hosted events for the last 40 years, but with a recent restoration, it is an amazing up-and-coming wedding venue with a difference - the remoteness of the location means privacy and intimacy is unparallelled.

St Mary's Church (Bampton):

Since it's recent appearance in Downton Abbey, St Mary's Church has become an increasingly popular wedding location. Its characteristic charm as a beautiful village church lends itself as a venue to the perfect traditional ceremony. It also holds a special place in my heart, with many fond childhood memories taking place here.

Caswell House (Brize Norton):

Barn weddings are increasingly popular, and I think my list shows it! Absolute privacy is assured at this venue as it is actually located in a family home. It's definitely a popular one, and the accommodation for the lucky couple is to die for!

Oxleaze Barn (Filkins, Lechlade):

This one really has to be seen to be believed! A lovely area for outdoor entertaining as well as a stunning heated barn makes for the perfect venue no matter what season your wedding takes place.

Cogges Manor Farm (Witney):

Another barn location, but set in the lovely market town of Witney. This central location means it's accessible to lots of areas by public transport, but the venue doesn't suffer for it. Two adjoining barns provide ample space for a wedding and party and unlimited decoration ideas. It's perfect for a more central wedding with all the character of the Cotswolds.

Merriscourt (Sarsden, Chipping Norton):

Merriscourt offers a combination of different rooms and barns throughout the venue to suit your specific wedding needs. Each can be dressed individually or together following a theme to create the perfect venue for you.

Wherever you choose to get married, the decisions that follow are some of the most exciting you will ever make. Outfits, colour themes and the guest list are all hugely important choices you have to make.

Oh, and don't forget a florist!
