Helpful Tips When Meeting A Wedding Florist
Getting your wedding flowers just right is a huge part of your wedding day, from colour scheme, style and design pieces. When the venue has been booked it will need some floral dressing, so to make sure you achieve your vision, here are some helpful hints and tips to consider before meeting your chosen florist.
Homework before your consultation. Provide your florist with examples of your style and theme so they can understand the vision you are trying to achieve.
Bring samples of fabric, invites, magazines and of course a Pinterest board or two.
Brides can always send images in advance of the meeting so the florist can come up with ideas and suggestions that would be appropriate to your style or bespoke to your event.
Be prepared for your meeting. Have an idea of your colour scheme, theme, style, number of buttonholes, number of bridesmaids, tables, chair backs etc... So the florist can give you a more accurate quote.
Have a general idea of floral budget. Not everyone knows how much floral arrangements cost, especially if you're only just starting to plan a wedding. But to help the couple understand and achieve the look they are trying to create, it is a good idea to speak about budget early on. The florist will work and plan around the budget, so it's important to get it planned out from the start.
Florist examples. So the florist can understand your vision don't forget to ask to see example of their work, i.e, their portfolio. You might see something you had never even considered before that could become integral to your floristry! A gallery of some of our previous work can be seen here.
Can the florist provide hired items? To add the finishing touches to your venue from small candle votives and jars to milk churns and bay trees these are all the extra details that will count. Ask if you are able to hire such items they may have in their stock. If not, they may well be able to source items for you - A florist should always do whatever they can to make your vision come to life!
Don't forget the terms and conditions. If your consultation is looking promising, read their T's and C's carefully, asking any important questions along the way, as they are there to help both the couple and the florist. This should cover everything including payments, flowers and breakages. It's nothing to lose sleep over, but the terms and conditions should always be clear and simple to understand. Ask the florist if there's anything you are worried about!
Where and when?
Is your venue booked? It is always good to inform your florist from the start of delivery locations, i.e, your house for bridal flowers, church or all in one venue. Timing is also very important as a schedule for the morning of prep and setting to the venue flowers for example will need to be in place in time for your wedding or event or start.
Getting married is such a full on and exciting time. Remember to take in every second and enjoy yourself along the way!
